Corporate Profile

TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company

TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company (TGS) is a principal resource for global non-exclusive geoscientific data products and services in the oil and gas industry. Countries worldwide have entrusted TGS to assist with licensing rounds and the preparation of regional data programs. This global presence, which includes offshore surveys conducted in more than two dozen nations, is made possible by a diverse staff on three continents. Success in this competitive marketplace reflects a proud reputation for benchmark quality and personalized service.

Geophysical Products & Services

TGS specializes in the design, acquisition and processing of 2D and 3D multi-client seismic surveys worldwide.

2D and 3D Seismic Data

TGS’ global multi-client library of 2D and 3D seismic data includes surveys from mature basins, emerging regions and frontier exploration zones. Countries worldwide have entrusted TGS to assist with licensing rounds and the preparation of data packages. This global presence, which includes offshore surveys conducted in more than two dozen nations, is made possible by a diverse staff on three continents.
Since its founding, TGS has embraced the multi-client model, acquiring over 2,000,000 line kilometers of 2D data and 88,000 square kilometers of 3D seismic data in North and South America, Europe, Africa and Asia.

Gravity, Magnetics and CSEM

TGS offers value-added gravity and magnetic data products to complement its regional interpretations and seismic data packages.

Workstation Services

The TGS data management team offers project data loading, platform transfer and workstation-related computing tasks. Exploration companies have realized facilities and resource cost savings with TGS handling the physical storage and management of their data tapes and materials.
The data management team includes experts who specialize in the loading of geoscientific data into leading seismic workstation platforms, which therefore, offers a cost-effective alternative to the time-intensive and error-prone process of converting exploration data from one workstation format to another.  More Info

Geological Data Products & Services

An industry-leading digital well log collection, well data management & services, multi-client interpretive products and subsurface consulting are also available from TGS.

Interpretations

TGS has developed interpretation products for many of the surveys in its global data library. There are also aids to interpretation such as AVO and Velocity studies for some surveys. In frontier areas, non-exclusive gravity and aeromagnetic surveys are supplemented by interpretation reports. TGS’ geoscientists have extensive experience in integrated interpretation, examining the structural framework, prospectivity and relevant content of acquired data. The Company also offers non-interpreted geologic and geophysical data packages.

Subsurface Consulting & Multi-client Exploration Studies

TGS provides unique geoscience data solutions that support exploration initiatives and prospect generation in the energy industry. The scope of services available to global oil and gas companies includes expertise in the areas of subsurface consulting and multi-client exploration studies.

Flagship multi-client studies integrate seismic, well logs, biostratigraphic data, core data, and other well information to create basin-wide interpretations of lithostratigraphy, chronostratigraphy, and environment of deposition. The interpretions are bundled with the Company’s Facies Map Browser (FMB) software to provide clients with a readily accessible combination of interpretations and data. Integrated studies are designed to reduce exploration cycle time and ultimately contribute to appraisal and asset development. Within its subsurface consulting practice, TGS can provide clients with services ranging from rank exploration to detailed field analyses and reserve estimation.

Well Log Data & Services

TGS has a worldwide, ever-expanding collection of more than four million digital well logs. The database can be searched and queried online using LOG-LINE Plus!®, a web-browser based tool for locating, ordering and instantly downloading logs. Coverage is available for major exploration and development plays worldwide, including North America and the Gulf of Mexico, Russia/CIS, Offshore Northwest Europe, West Africa (including exclusive access to Nigeria data) and Madagascar.

TGS works with major software developers and third-parties to provide in-application access to the database via SilverWire®, minimizing workflow interruptions and giving the geoscientist a more complete view of available data.

Well logs are available in all major industry formats, including hardcopy (paper), raster images, depth-calibrated smartRASTER®, digital L.A.S. and processed Workstation Ready L.A.S. TGS also works with industry partners to create specialized well productions, such as Geophysical Workstation Ready logs for seismic well-tie analysis. The company’s rigorous quality control process insures that data is complete, accurate and a dependable addition to your corporate collection.

TGS also has the industry’s largest scanning and digitization capacity for proprietary conversion projects, and has worked with well data from locations worldwide, including non-Western logs.  More Info

Imaging Services

TGS delivers advanced high performance imaging and software solutions to support its geoscience data programs.

Imaging Services

Specialized processing techniques such as pre-stack depth migration, amplitude variation with offset (AVO) processing and corridor stacks are performed on both new and existing 2D and 3D exploration data sets. TGS’ Data Processing Centers are located in Houston, Texas and Bedford, England. These imaging facilities are linked electronically to share hardware and human resources resulting in shorter and more cost-effective project cycles. The same benchmark quality assurance procedures and software for processing the commercial multi-client data library have been successfully utilized, with a clear advantage, to meet the stringent requirements of TGS’ non-exclusive seismic projects worldwide.

Imaging Software

In addition to providing data processing services to clients, the Imaging group offers its own advanced seismic processing software technology, PRIMA™, available for commercial license. PRIMA is a multi-function exploration software suite that seamlessly incorporates a seismic data processing and imaging system with pre-stack AVO analysis and interpretation capabilities. PRIMA combines effective analysis tools, robust algorithms, and flexible resource optimization tools that allow you to quickly and accurately process and analyze your seismic data.  More Info
